Privacy
Letterspan is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts and we don't sell or share personal information.
What's saved on your device
Your results, stars, streak and settings (like light or dark mode) are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. They never leave your device unless you copy and share a result yourself. Clearing your browser data removes them.
What we measure
To understand how many people play and whether the puzzles are working, we count visits and a few game moments, such as starting a puzzle, finishing it, using a hint or copying a result.
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- PostHog counts how many people start, finish and come back to the puzzle. It stores a random identifier in your browser so a return visit can be recognised; it isn't linked to your name or email, and we never ask for either. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland it only starts if you choose Allow when asked. Anywhere, you can switch it off from the stats window (the chart button) with Anonymous stats, and your choice is remembered on that device.
These tools receive your IP address as part of normal web traffic, which they use to estimate country and then discard as described in their own policies.
Puzzle delivery
When the game loads, our server uses your approximate time zone, worked out from your connection, to decide which puzzles have started for you. It isn't stored.
Advertising
Letterspan doesn't show ads today. If that changes, this page will be updated first, including any consent choices you need.
